Hand Spun Faux Cashmere

Machine Knitting a Winter White Sweater

Machine Knitting Project 5:

Kromski Minstrel Spinning Wheel

Actually, I spun the fiber without a clue as to what I wanted to knit until I saw this sweater.  Yes, I was so inspired by this sweater that I decided not to dye my hand spun faux cashmere yarn. Its pure white color has a subtle sheen and irresistible softness.  I just could not stop feeling its cozy texture.  Another machine knit pattern in the works for you.

What is Faux Cashmere?

Faux Cashmere is a new nylon fiber that has the qualities of cashmere. Its pure white color has a subtle sheen and irresistible softness.  I just could not stop feeling its cozy texture.

Benefits:

There are several reasons to love faux cashmere.  Your clients would love wearing garments knitted in this yarn.  Benefits include:

  • Perfect for people with wool allergies
  • An easy spin for beginner spinners
  • Easy to care machine wash instructions
  • Feels like silk against your skin

In my opinion, it is the easiest fiber I have ever spun.  I learned about it from a fellow spinner Navi and enjoyed spinning it on my Kromski Minstrel Spinning Wheel.

My Favorite Styled Sweaters

Traditional style sweaters are my favorite to machine knit.  Such as raglans.

Selecting a pattern to knit is no different than shopping for clothes at your local shopping area. So many choices and decisions to make.

Conclusion:

Recommend to your customers faux cashmere if they are allergic to wool.  The long draw technique produces a fluffy spongy type texture.  Faux cashmere spins like butter and I’m told it is easy to dye.
